Mecini studies World Literature in the University of Tirana. She is also a Basketball player and was the team leader of the professional basketball team Tirana when she was only sixteen years old. Matilda started modeling in her mid teen years for Sherri Hill and Roberto Cavalli, she has than modeled for many other fashion designers in England, France,Italy, USA and of course her homeland Albania. Mecini is a business manager at K Models modeling agency in Tirana, Albania. She speaks Albanian, English, Italian and French. Matilda beat out 37 other candidates to win Miss Albania 2008.
Mecini will represent Albania in the Miss Universe 2008 pageant, which will be held in Nha Trang, Vietnam on July 14, 2008.
